Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Merchandising the Director of Ecommerce is a member of the Merchandising leadership team. This role will be accountability for developing a comprehensive digital commerce strategy for the Pet business, improving the customer experience, driving personalization, and increasing digital sales and margin. The Director will work with vendors and senior leaders to develop this strategy, blending commerce and content while elevating petsupermarket.com.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The Director of Ecommerce, Digital Merchandising will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Working with senior leaders to develop the digital merchandising strategy, blending commerce and content while elevating petsupermarket.com as the authority in the online pet food and supply business.
- Partner with Category Managers to develop category merchandising strategies for the web, grounded in unique shopping and buying experiences for the digital customer segment.
- Develop a seamless and well-integrated omni channel merchandised customer experience.
- Manage vendor assortments and relationships specifically targeted to sales in the digital space.
- Partner with marketing to enhance brand and digital consumer experience to attract, educate and convert customers.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of assortment, site experience, and promotional strategies.
- Compile and analyze performance data, making recommendations to site merchandising teams based on outcomes.
- Focus on the continued development of team members.
- Have a general understanding of the pet industry and our competitors.
- Accountable for key Ecommerce KPIs including but not limited to Sales, Margin, and Web Conversion Rate.
Experience, Education, Certifications (List minimum required to enter the role)
- A Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field, is strongly desired.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive growth managing categories within traditional retail buying and/or digital buying is required.
- Experience working in an organization that uses an agile methodology with a focus on building roadmaps and setting long and short-term priorities.
- Experience increasing sales and traffic to corporate/brand websites.
- The ideal candidate will have a blend of creative and analytical skills and be a leader who enjoys leading dynamic teams.
